Though generally seen as scary or creepy, cemeteries are necessary parts of any culture. They allow people to mourn & immortalize those they hold dear. Using a medium format Holga produced soft images that reflect & enforce the emotional part of cemeteries.

These photos were taken at St. Louis Cemetery #1 in Louisiana & Mount Auburn Cemetery in Massachusetts. While both are historic U.S. cemeteries, there are striking visual differences. Looking at these two places side by side allows the viewer to reflect upon the cultural motivation of their design & development.
